The Type One is currently my most affordable belt grinder option. By utilizing smaller 1.5″ x 0.75″ rectangular tooling arms the material cost and machine time is reduced making it a cost effective option. The narrower tooling arms don’t decrease the performance with the use most common platens, contact wheels and workrest. However if you plan to use larger accessories like a surface grinder attachment or larger bevel jigs I would recommend the 1.5 version with the 1.5″ square arm. If you buy this version and later one decide you want an SRG, Type One 1.5 or SRG 1.5, it’s no problem. SInce my design is bolted together you can convert my grinder into another model with a simple conversion kit.
