Drive Wheel Size
Quote from dan on March 24, 2021, 10:31 amNew to Sander/Grinders and about to buy my first but do not know what drive wheel size to order 4", 6", or 8"? I am going to order the SRG w/2hp motor running on 220v and VFD Control.
What will each wheel size do for me other than the obvious belt speed? Power gain/loss, excessive belt wear, heat buildup in belt/steel etc....
Without knowing I would think I should look at the 8" due to the fact that with the VFD I can always slow it down but with a 4" or 6" I can only run it so fast even at full speed??

- I am running a single speed 3400 rpm motor with a 8" drive wheel. Thats around 8000sfm. I think a motor in that rpm range that is 3 phase and a quality vfd and you will be set for everything from delicate to full grind mode.
